Did you know that red wine is healthy? Yep the flavonoids or antioxidants are not found in white wine, although white wine is not unhealthy, it just doesn’t have all the red wine benefits. It’s important to understand the benefits so that we can get the absolute maximum of those health benefits.

More about the Benefits of Red Wine

If you recall, a few years ago, there was a poster that circulated around the internet of a man sitting in front of a gigantic wine goblet and the caption read “My doctor told me I can have one drink a day” No this is not the case with red wine. Studies done indicate that one glass of wine a day for women and two glasses for men actually lowers the risk of heart attack. The key is moderation. Obviously too much red wine isn’t good but in moderation it can be one of the more healthy things you can drink. The studies have shown that for middle aged people, the risk of heart disease is lowered by anywhere for 30 to 50 percent. Now that’s something to drink too.

There are also many other red wine benefits, such as the fact that it has been proven to help lower the LDL, or bad cholesterol in the body. This is important because by lowering your cholesterol, you are reducing the risk of blood clots forming and blood vessel damage being caused as a result of fat deposits.

It is important to only drink red wine in moderation however, and not start drinking too much just because you have heard that it is good for you. In fact, by drinking too much wine you are going to be putting yourself at more risk than before for conditions like obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol, stroke, cardiac arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death.

How does it Work?

Red wine is a particularly good source of antioxidants, and it is these which are beneficial for the body. Resveratrol is also found in red wine, and this substance helps by increasing HDL, or good cholesterol, and also by exhibiting various antioxidant properties that help to prevent blood clots and plaque formation in the arteries.

Research and studies have shown us that the red wine benefits are plentiful, but it is also important to realize that you have to maintain an otherwise healthy lifestyle at the same time. If you want to reap the benefits of something such as wine, then you should also be eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and getting lots of regular exercise.

Once your body is in generally healthy shape overall, then and only then will it really be able to prosper from the red wine benefits that are so touted today.

Go away. Come back with wine
